NEW DELHI (VNS)— Development of Viet Nam-India ties in security, police, law building and crime prevention and control have contributed to fostering the bilateral ties between the two countries, said Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang.

Quang made the statement while meeting Indian National Security Consultant Shiv Shankar Menon on Thursday during his visit to India.

Quang said he hoped that Viet Nam's Ministry of Public Security and India's National Security Council would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding to create a legal basis for the two sides to increase exchanges of information relating to the interests and national security of each country.

For his part, Menon said co-operation in security and national defence was one among the many important pillars of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

He wished the two sides would continue expanding co-operation to other areas such as Internet security and information security. —VNS
