HA NOI (VNS)— The Vietnamese Government will closely co-operate with the World Bank (WB) to make sure that the bank's aid is distributed as efficiently as possible, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said.

Dung made the pledge at a reception for visiting WB East Asia and Pacific Regional Vice President Axel van Trotsenburg in Ha Noi yesterday.

During the meeting, the PM highlighted the positive developments in the Viet Nam-World Bank relationship, and expressed gratitude to the WB for the aid programmes and practical policy consultations it has provided to Viet Nam over recent years.

He made clear his hope that the WB would continue its support for Viet Nam's socio-economic development, human resources training and poverty reduction programmes, while continuing to offer practical and effective policy consultations to the country.

For his part, Axel van Trotsenburg, who is visiting Viet Nam until Thursday, confirmed that the bank will continue granting Viet Nam financial resource where possible in order to help the country achieve its socio-economic goals.

He also pledged that his bank would always stand side by side with Viet Nam, especially in providing policy advice relating to stabilising the macro-economy and maintaining growth.

The bank is willing to assist Viet Nam in accessing capital resources and promoting public-private partnership, he added. — VNS
