HA NOI (VNS)— President Truong Tan Sang yesterday met air force and air defence veterans to mark the 40th anniversary of the Ha Noi-Dien Bien Phu air victory.

The President and delegates recalled the glorious history of the armed forces and the victory.
The President said that victory was a historical landmark in the national history which directly led to the signing of the Paris Accord in 1973.
He praised the brave fighting spirit of the army and its service men and women, as well as the valuable support provided by international friends.
Sang stressed that after 40 years, the victory would forever be remembered as the pride of the nation, offering lessons and inspiration for future generations.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan yesterday received Senior Lieutenant General Viktor Nikolaevich Bondarev, Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force of the Russian Federation Armed Force, and Major General Wang Yisheng, Deputy Chief of Staff of the People's Liberation Army of China Air Force, as both are in Viet Nam to attend the 40th anniversary of the victory.
On the same day, the Russian and Chinese guests were received by Minister of National Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh. — VNS
