Update: August, 23/2012 - 09:59

HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called for more awareness against corruption and perfection in management policies on land use and management and State-owned enterprises.

The PM was speaking at the 18th session of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption in Ha Noi yesterday.

He said the fight against corruption had brought positive results during the past seven months, adding that more corruption had been discovered and dealt with strictly.

However, he said some units and agencies failed to pay enough attention to corruption and that some corruption cases had been delayed, causing public concern.

Dung asked relevant agencies to improve investigations, inspections, audits, prosecutions and trials, as well as speed up the settlement of serious and complex cases.

In the first six months of this year, the inspectorate conducted about 6,000 administrative inspections, setting VND258 billion ($12.4 million) in fines for administrative violations. — VNS
