DPRK delegation studies province

THAI BINH — A delegation of the Korean Workers' Party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has visited the northern province of Thai Binh to study the rural area development.

The delegation was led by head of the Central Committee Commission for International Affairs Kim Yong Il.

At a working session with the delegation yesterday, Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee secretary Tran Cam Tu said the province was accelerating the development of a new rural area in line with a national target programme on new rural development.

Thai Binh expected to fulfil the programme in all communes by 2020.

Tu, who is also member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, spoke highly of the solidarity and friendship between the parties and people of Viet Nam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

He said the Thai Binh provincial Party Committee and people always kept in mind valuable assistance from the Korean Workers' Party and its people to the Vietnamese people in their struggle for national independence and reunification, as well as their current national construction and defence.

For his part, Kim Yong Il, spoke highly of Thai Binh's economic development, especially in agricultural production, poverty reduction, employment and social welfare.

He attributed the achievements to the sound policy of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Later in the day, the delegation made a fact-finding tour of a rural area model in Thanh Tan Commune, Kien Xuong District. — VNS
