HA NOI — Viet Nam vows to do its utmost to elevate relations with the European Union, said Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung of the National Assembly.
Hung was speaking to the Chief Operating Officer of the European External Action Service David O'Sullivan, who began his visit to Viet Nam yesterday.
The visit, according to Hung, would help forge a stronger partnership between the two sides.
He also affirmed that Viet Nam attached importance to its relations with the EU, but felt that co-operation could still be improved in areas such as science, culture, education, health care, environmental protection and national defence.
O'Sullivan said despite rapid intensification in the bilateral trade relations, there was room to increase the number of EU-invested projects in Viet Nam.
He also said that Viet Nam was a key partner and a vital link between the EU and ASEAN. — VNS
