The committee hailed the close co-operation between relevant ministries, branches and border localities of the two countries in implementing the Protocol on Border Demarcation and Marker Placement, the Agreement on Border Management Regulations and the Agreement on Border Gates and Border Gate Management.

Delegates at the meeting discussed an orientation for future border management and reached consensus on important issues, completing procedures to open the second border gate between Lao Cai and Hekou.

They agreed to accelerate the establishment of a border gate communication mechanism between the two countries and to open additional access points. They also negotiated an agreement for free passage at the mouth of Packlung River and one for tourism development co-operation at Ban Gioc Waterfalls.
