HA NOI — Viet Nam learned about the management of state power at an international conference held yesterday by the National Assembly and the German Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.
"The amendment of the 1992 Constitution will be one of key tasks of the Party and Government of Viet Nam, because its content no longer reflects the current situation of the country," said Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan at the two-day event.
Ngan said that the NA had defined seven problem areas in need of amendment, among them the organisation of state powers.
"Strengthening the effectiveness of state-organised operations, as well as ensuring and respecting the people's right to freedom, would be basic foundations for the sustainable development of the country," added Ngan.
Viet Nam had faced challenges in improving the capacity of state management and promulgating policies in order to create a competitive edge. Researching foreign models would provide valuable information to help Viet Nam perfect its governmental structure, Ngan said. — VNS
