BEIJING — A delegation of the National Assembly led by Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong are paying a working visit to China at the invitation of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National Peoples Congress.
Yesterday, Phong had a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National Peoples Congress Wu Bangguo.
At the meeting, Phong said that the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and China was a valuable asset and that the Vietnamese Party, State and people were thankful to China for its great support of Viet Nam's national liberation, national construction and defence.
Wu Bangguo applauded the Vietnamese delegations visit, saying that the visit would further deepen the relationship between the two countries.
He said that China attached importance to developing the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation with Viet Nam for the benefits of the two peoples and for peace and stability in the region.
The two sides agreed that it was necessary to intensify the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership based on the common perceptions of the two countries high-ranking leaders.
They asserted that co-operative relations between the two countries legislative bodies should be strengthened through further promoting the exchange of visits, information and experience between the two peoples and mutual support at multilateral forums.
Phong will hold talks with Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National Peoples Congress Lu Yongxiang today as part of her visit from January 4-8. — VNS
