Deputy Defence Minister leads delegation to India security talks

HA NOI — Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Huy Hieu, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Minister of National Defence led a high-ranking military delegation to India, at the invitation of Indian Deputy Defence Minister Vijay Singh.

The delegation attended the 3rd security dialogue at deputy defence ministerial level between Viet Nam and India, held from November 27-29.

During talks with Indian Deputy Defence Minister Vijay Singh, the two sides valued results of national defence co-operation between the two countries in recent years.

They also mulled areas for future defence co-operation, in line with the two country’s growing strategic partnership as defined during Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s recent visit to India.

The two sides discussed Viet Nam’s experience in fighting terrorism, assuring marine security, managing borders, strengthening the management role of the State and socio-political organisations.

During his visit, Hieu also met with Indian Defence Minister A K Antony and other military commanders and visited India’s West Air Force Commander and Indian National Defence Academy. — VNS
