Vientiane — State President and General Secretary of the Lao People Revolutionary Party Central Committee Choummaly Sayasone received a visiting delegation of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs in Vientiane yesterday.

The Chairman of the CPV Commission for External Affairs and head of the Vietnamese delegation, Nguyen Van Son, told the host that the two parties’ external commissions would continue tightening co-operation and help implement agreements between the two parties and countries in order to boost ties.

Sayasone said that he was highly appreciative of the work the two commissions had embarked on and that the co-operation was a foundation for the further fostering Laos-Viet Nam relations.

The same day, the Vietnamese delegation held talks with Thongloune Sisoulith, Lao Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Lao Party Commission for External Affairs.

The two sides agreed to organise historical celebrations of the two countries in 2007 and work harder on bilateral relations.— vns
