General
secretary’s envoy in Laos trip

HA NOI — Lao People’s
Revolutionary Party (LPRP) General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone
highly appreciated the great achievements recorded by Viet Nam’s Party, State
and people over the last 20 years of renewal.
Choummaly spoke Sunday at
a reception of the Viet Nam Party General Secretary’s special envoy, Nguyen
Van Son, who is also member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central
Committee and Director of the CPV Central Committee External Relations
Commission .
The special envoy visit
was designed to inform Laos about the positive results of Viet Nam’s 10th
National Party Congress.
Son emphasised that Viet
Nam’s Party, State and people were as dedicated as the Lao Party, State and
people in taking their special relationship to an even higher level.
Son conveyed greetings
from the Central Communist Party of Viet Nam and General Secretary Nong Duc Manh
on the successful 8th LPRP Congress and the important achievements the Lao
Party, State and people have gained in national defence and construction.
Son said that under the
clear-sighted leadership of the LPRP, headed by Choummaly, the Lao people will
gain many great achievements and successfully implement the Resolution of its
8th Congress.
The special envoy also
reminded Choummaly about the invitation to visit Viet Nam from Vietnamese
leaders.
Chummaly expressed his
belief that under the leadership of the Viet Nam Communist Party, led by Party
leader Nong Duc Manh, the Vietnamese people will successfully implement the
Resolution of the 10th Party Congress.
The general secretary
expressed his delight at the fruitful development of the special friendship
between Viet Nam and Laos.
He stressed that the Lao
State and people attach great importance to the special friendship, solidarity
ties and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries that will be
forever passed down from generation to generation.
Choummaly sent greetings
from himself and other Party leaders to Vietnamese Party and State leaders.
He thanked the Vietnamese
Party General Secretary and President for the invitation and also invited Party
leader Nong Duc Manh to pay a visit to Laos.
On the same day, Son held
talks with Lao Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavat and
other Party leaders.
Son briefed the host about
important contents and new decisions of the 10th National Party Congress.
They also informed each
other of news in their parties and recent developments in their countries, in
order to effectively carry out accords signed by the two countries’ party and
State leaders.
They also discussed
regional and international issues of mutual concern. — VNS
