HÀ NỘI — Giai Điệu Tự Hào (Proud Melody), a popular music programme produced by Vietnam Television (VTV), has started its new version after four years of success in attracting large audiences.

Unlike previous seasons, Proud Melody 2018 will be broadcast live. Rather than choosing a historical topic for each episode, every new episode will deal with a current social issue.

The new season’s first episode aired Saturday night, and was titled Những khoảnh khắc tạc vào năm tháng (Moments in Time). It included songs highlighting different historical milestones in the friendship between Việt Nam and Russia.

The programme also tackled the gap in attitudes between the young and old through lively stories told by attendees.

The show highlighted stories about the responsibilities of Russian and Vietnamese colleagues during their work in oil and gas exploitation, constructing the Đà River Water Plant and space exploration.

Programme director Tạ Bích Loan said only responsibility and hard work could lead to success, and these traits were central to the Russian and Vietnamese character.

With this episode, the Proud Melody 2018 praised how the relationship between Việt Nam and Russia had been built on the basis of trust and mutual respect. It has transcended a mere diplomatic relationship to become a friendship.

Since premiering on January 25, 2014, Proud Melody has attracted large audiences of music lovers.

The programme has musical performances followed by reports and judge evaluations. The evaluation panel consists of five judges and occasional guests.

Another distinctive feature of Proud Melody 2018 is the increased interactivity with TV audiences. The show will have a wider range of content across more digital platforms. Behind the scenes videos and songs will be available on the platforms of OTT app VTV.vn, VTVgo.vn, fanpage and Youtube, according to a report from VTV. — VNS
