TripAdvisor, the travel planning and booking site, recently ranked Hà Nội as the cheapest international tourist destination among 39 cities worldwide.

The annual TripIndex Cities applies to travel between June and September this year, taking into account typical costs for two people: a four-star hotel for three nights, a visit to three attractions, lunch each day, taxi to and from dinner each day, plus the cost of dinner itself.

It found that lunch for two in Hà Nội costs US$28, dinner $55, taxi travel (a two-mile round-trip) and tours/activities $2, and hotels $79. 

Total average cost of a three-day summer trip for two to Hà Nội is about 497.

Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur were also among the cheapest cities to visit for a three-night summer break, while New York was the most expensive.
