Safe drinking venues may curb road deaths

Update: December, 05/2014 - 09:30

To strengthen traffic safety during Christmas, New Year and Tet (Lunar New Year), the National Traffic Safety Committee proposes establishing "selling safe alcohol" locations.

To be considered, these locations will be either restaurant or entertainment places that provide services to ensure that drunk guests cannot and do not need to drive while drunk or incapacitated.

They would also provide overnight parking services, help arrange to take customers home and allocate extra staff to be escorts or handle problems.

Some people wonder if this model would be effective and whether restaurants and entertainment centers were willing to do the extra work.

Some argue it would actually encourage people to drink more since the services would enable customers to relinquish responsibility for themselves.

What do you think of the proposal? How do you think this should be implemented? Do you think this will lower the number of traffic incidents this holiday season?
