Provinces across Viet Nam suffer high temperature

Update: June, 11/2012 - 16:39

HA NOI - An increasing low-pressure in the west is forecast to bring high temperatures of up to 37 degree Celsius and no rain to northern and central parts of the country over the next three days, said the National Centre for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting.

The Southwest monsoon will bring scattered rain and thunderstorms to central highlands and southern areas where are predicted to see lower temperatures of 32 degree Celsius, added the centre.

The heatwave this week, however, is far different from last month's. May experienced high temperatures during the daytime and cool temperatures at night while June will see high temperatures either in daytime or at night, said Nguyen Huu Hai, head of the Medium and long-term Meteorological Forecasting Division at the centre.

He added that this was a short-day and light heatwave which was not strong enough to cause harm to agriculture. However, it could cause people to be tired or even sick. - VNS
