Passengers must wear lifejackets when crossing rivers

Update: February, 14/2012 - 12:30

HA NOI – The Ministry of Transport has proposed a regulation that every passenger travelling on inland waterways wear a lifejacket or personal floatation device at all times.

The regulation was included in a draft circular set up by the ministry regarding the use of lifejackets and personal floatation devices on board.

Strict measures were also proposed to ensure the compliance with the regulation.

Accordingly, ships are allowed to leave a port only when every crew member and passenger on board is provided with a lifejacket or personal floatation device.

In addition, passengers must be asked to leave the ship if they refuse to wear a lifejacket. – VNS
