HA NOI — Cooler temperatures with rain and possible hail has been forecast for northern Viet Nam today.

The National Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre says the temperature will fall by 4-5 degree Celsius with a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 29 degrees.

The top temperature in Ha Noi yesterday was 34 and the minimum 24.

"The drop in temperatures will bring unusual weather like thunder, lightning and hail," said forecasting centre director Bui Minh Tang.

The heavy rain carried the threat of highland landslides, he warned.

The milder weather is expected to last until Sunday.

The temperature in the south and Central Highlands (Tay Nguyen) will range from 20 to 35 degrees with some rain.
