Kerry Logistics and Anaklia City Sign MOU on Strategic Cooperation for Georgia’s Deep Sea Port and SEZ Development

HONGKONG, CHINA - MediaOutReach - 4 July 2018 - Kerry Logistics Network Limited ('Kerry Logistics';Stock Code 0636.HK) today announced the signing of a memorandum ofunderstanding between its member company Globalink and Georgia's Anaklia CityJSC ('Anaklia City') to cooperate in the development of the Anaklia Deep SeaPort ('Anaklia Port') and Special Economic Zone ('Anaklia SEZ') in Anaklia,Georgia. Leveraging its long presence in Georgia and the Caucasianregion, Globalink is expected to bring in a wealth of logistics and multimodal freight knowledgeand expertise to the project.

 

Scheduled for opening by the end of 2020, theAnaklia Port and Anaklia SEZ, comprising modern logistics and industrial parks,will be fully integrated with rail and road connections to the infrastructurenetworks of Georgia and neighbouring countries. The Anaklia Port is expected tobecome one of the largest ports in the Black Sea region and first deep waterport in Georgia with a handling capacity of up to 10,000 TEUs vessels, cateringfor a mix of cargoes including containers, dry bulk, liquid bulk and othertypes of cargoes.

On 28 June 2018, Hong Kong signed a free trade agreement ('FTA') with Georgia, which isthe first FTA between Hong Kong and an economy in the Caucasian region ofEurasia. The FTA is comprehensive in scope, encompassing trade in goods andservices, investments, a dispute settlement mechanism, and other related areas.
