exhibition celebrates beauty of life in Cuba

HA NOI — An exhibition
of photos taken on the beautiful island of Cuba by Viet Nam Pictorial
photographers opened yesterday in Ha Noi.
The exhibition, entitled
Mot Thoang Cu Ba (A Glimpse of Cuba) features over 80 vibrant photo impression
of the daily lives of Cubans by Vietnamese photographers Le Phuc, Quang Minh, Vu
Khanh and Vinh Quang, taken during their first visit to Cuba.
Chieu Tren Duong Pho La
Habana (One Afternoon on the Streets of Havana), Nhung Co Gai Nhiet Doi
(Tropical Girls), and Bien Varadero (Varadero Beach) are a few of the photos
that are impressing viewers at the exhibition.
The photos express the joy
in the dynamic lives of Cubans, and Vietnamese can also see life in another
country which has also faced foreign interference and pressures. Cubans remain
courageous and optimistic, reflected in photos of sweet kisses in the street and
radiant smiles on the faces of Cuban women and children.
At the exhibition’s
opening ceremony, Cuban Ambassador to Viet Nam Jesus Aise Sotolongo said,
"The exhibition expresses the friendship and solidarity of the Vietnamese
people with Cuba. Photos at the exhibition reflect the Cuban culture and
"The everyday Cuban
life has been captured and expressed accurately and truthfully by the Vietnamese
photographers," said Nguyen Duy Cuong, deputy director of the Cuba-Viet Nam
Friendship Association, at the opening ceremony.
The exhibition was
co-organised by the Cuban Embassy in Viet Nam, Viet Nam Pictorial of the Vietnam
News Agency and the Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Association on the occasion of the
45th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
The exhibition runs until
January 13 at 29 Hang Bai Exhibition House, 29 Hang Bai Street. — VNS
