HCM CITY  Vietnamese photographers in the country and abroad are encouraged to join the Việt Nam Photo Contest and Exhibition 2020, which aims to capture images of Việt Nam’s development in culture, economy and international integration.

The purpose of the event, organised by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, in co-operation with its partners, is to highlight the country’s history, culture and lifestyle through the visual arts.

Its theme is “Việt Nam - Tradition - Modern - Development”. Landscapes, urban developments, and the causes of building and protecting the country are included.

Images of local people who play a role in the city’s economy, culture and tourism development are also encouraged.

The contest’s organisers said the contest welcomes both amateur and professional photographers.

Participants can submit photos of an individual or of a group. Submissions should be original works shot in 2019 and 2020, and should not have been submitted in previous competitions or exhibited publicly. The works should be in black-and-white or colour.

The contest includes two categories, one with real subjects without editing, and one that deals with concepts.

Entries may be submitted as a single photograph including captions.

Organisers said high priority would be given to entries focusing on creative and unique views and presentations.

Entries should be sent before June 30 to the organising board’s website http://www.anhnghethuatvietnam2020.com.

The awards ceremony will be organised in late December. The best photos will be publicly exhibited in Hà Nội, HCM City and Đà Nẵng. VNS
