American publisher to release VN author’s poetry collection

The California-based publisher Word Palace Press plans to publish an English-Vietnamese edition of a poetry collection by Vietnamese writer Trần Quang Quý at the end of next year.

HÀ NỘI — The California-based publisher Word Palace Press plans to publish an English-Vietnamese edition of a poetry collection by Vietnamese writer Trần Quang Quý at the end of next year.

Cánh Đồng Người (The Human Field) by Trần Quang Quý consists of 22 poems, including pieces like Hát Gọi Hạt Giống, Với Sông Đà and Phố Thu.

In its press release on the edition, the publisher notes: “This is an important book, a heart-felt collection of the human cry for compassion, love, and understanding."

The translation is completed by the Vietnamese poet Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai and her American colleague Jennifer Fossenbell.

The 61-year-old Quý has published 8 collections. He has won various prizes for his poems including a second prize by the Văn Nghệ Quân Đội (Military Literature and Arts) Magazine in 1984, a prize by Văn Nghệ (Literature and Arts) Weekly for periods of 1990-91 and 1994-95 and prizes for poetry by the Việt Nam Writers’ Association in 2004 and 2012. — VNS
