HA NOI (VNS) — A contemporary music night performed by Tri Minh Quartet will open at L'Espace in downtown Ha Noi on November 7.
The quartet includes outstanding artists in Vietnamese music: DJ and composer Tri Minh; Van Mai on 16-string zither; Duc Minh on mouth harp and flute; and Ha Dinh Huy on drums and percussion.
Sophisticated and versatile, Tri Minh Quartet binds traditional Vietnamese music such as ca tru (ceremonial singing), cheo (traditional opera) and quan ho (duo of love songs) with modern styles.
Danish guest artist Clara Bryld will also participate in the progamme.
Born and raised in a family with rich musical traditions and a professional training background in classical music, Tri Minh uses electronic music as a means to explore traditional Vietnamese music.
The quarter has succeeded in many music programmes, including the Ha Noi Sound Stuff Festival.
The group has just come back from a US tour under the cultural exchange programme Center Stage.
Tickets are sold at L'Espace, 24 Trang Tien Street at a cost of VND160,000 (US$7). The promotion price is VND80,000 ($3.50) for students and members of L'Espace. — VNS
