DA NANG (VNS) — The central city will host the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition 2015 from April 29 to May 3 next year, the annual event's organising committee said.
Director of VietArt Media Company, Le Nguyen Phuong Thao, said the competition, which made its debut in 2008, would be held over five nights, of which three would be for fireworks and two as aquatic music nights.
Thao said the 2015 competition will be organised at a total cost of VND36.2 billion (US$1.7 million).
The city's Foreign Affairs department said two consultancy companies – Global 2000 from Malaysia and Simmetrico Network of Italy – have registered to participate in the event next year.
Simmetrico Network also proposed to build a fireworks launching place in the middle of the Han River and for larger installation of stands on the two river banks.
VietArt Media also suggested ticket prices from VND150,000 ($7) to VND2 million ($95) for aquatic music and fireworks performances.
Da Nang is the only city in Viet Nam to host the annual competition since 2008, but it is scheduled to play host biennially from 2015.
Last year, Melrose Pyrotechnics of the US won the first prize.
In previous competitions, Canada's Davis Whysall won the first prize in 2008, while China's Liuyang Dancing team took the title in 2009. France's Jacques Couturier Organisation clinched the first prize in 2010, and Italy's Parente won twice in 2011-12. — VNS
