HA NOI (VNS) — Japanese musicians will perform in a concert at Ha Noi's Youth Theatre on April 9.

The concert will have rock music accompanied by traditional Japanese musical instruments played by six members of the Bati-Holic band. In the one-night concert, the artists will perform fusion music, combining the traditional flute Shinobue and the percussion instrument Wadaiko.

Established in 2004 in Kyoto, the cradle of culture and tradition, the Bati-Holic members met each other while learning to play the Japanese drum at an art school.

They performed in festivals in Japan and learned a variety of traditional dances and songs which have been handed down through generations across Japan.

Based on local performing arts around the country, the band plays original Japanese music with its arrangements focusing on the appeal of the Japanese drum. The Bati-Holic group's style is oriented towards using traditional musical instruments.

The group has performed in the Netherlands, South Korea and Chinese Taiwan. They performed in HCM City in 2012.

The Ha Noi concert will be held at the Youth Theatre, 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street. Free tickets will be available at the Japan Foundation, 27, Quang Trung Street, from 2pm on Friday. — VNS
