The world becomes room full of bubbles

Valuing diversity: Photos by Hoang Quoc Tuan (top) and Ngo Quang Phuc won the first and third prizes at the 11th Photographic Contest in Spain.

HA NOI — Photographer Hoang Quoc Tuan won the first prize at the 11th Photographic Contest held by the Spanish National Organisation of the Blind (ONCE).

Tuan's black- and-white photo, entitled Khat Vong (Hoping to See), features the blind surrounded by a cloud of bubbles.

The image incorporates sensations experienced by both those who can see and those who cannot, in line with the competition's A World for Everybody, Overcoming Disabilities concept.

Another photo by Ngo Quang Phuc grabbed the third prize at the event, which includes nearly 1500 photographs and 459 photographers 55 countries.

The two photographers will receive cash prizes of 1,500 and 350 euros, respectively, and gold and bronze medals from the International Federation of Photographic Art.

During the 10th contest in 2010, photographer Tran Dinh Thuong was awarded the second prize.

The photo contest is held by ONCE for amateur and professional photographers worldwide in support of arts and culture and the diffusion of disability in valuing the diversity of society. — VNS
