Phong power plant deal signed
HA NOI — A US$453
million EPC contract for a project to build a thermal power plant named Hai
Phong 2 was signed in Ha Noi yesterday.
Signatories included the
Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock Co from the northern port city of Hai Phong,
and two foreign contractors, China’s Dongfang and Japan’s Marubeni.
Eighty-five per cent of
the contract’s total value was contributed by the two foreign contractors and
the remainder was mobilised from the company’s shareholders and commercial
The two-turbine thermal
power plant, with a total capacity of 600MW, will be built in Tam Hung Commune,
Thuy Nguyen District, with a total investment capital of $623 million.
Once operational in
October 2009, the plant will generate an annual output of 3.6 billion kWh,
making a substantial contribution to ensuring sufficient electricity supplies
for the socio-economic development of the Hai Phong-Ha Noi-Quang Ninh Triangle
and surrounding areas. — VNS
