HCM CITY — The Solar Experience Space (SES) model, a collaboration of Bách Khoa Energy Corporate (SolarBK) and HCM City Science Technology University, will compete in the final of the Smarter Energy Award 2018 – an annual event held in Munich, Germany on June 20-22.

SolarBK said in a statement that the three-in-one model of Recreation – Study – Research, which combines a modern coffee shop as a place for students to study and relax, is the first to run on 100 per cent renewable energy in Việt Nam.

The SES will join tough contests with other nine projects in the final of the ‘Outstanding Project’ category during the Intersolar 2018 Exhibition – the largest international renewable energy exhibition – in Germany.

It said SES, which was built from 2016 and debuted in March last year, includes a solar water heating and rooftop solar power system for students to experience a realistic zero-energy space.

It also works as a visual teaching tool for renewable energy study for students at the university.

SolarBK’s wind-solar renewable energy system project on the Trường Sa (Spratly) Islands of Việt Nam and renewable energy-powered desalination system project on Song Tử Tây Island, won the Global International Renewable Energy Award in 2012 and 2016, respectively.— VNS
