BẮC NINH — Bắc Ninh authorities have fined two South Korean companies VNĐ333 million (US$15,000) for infringements in connection with wastewater discharge.

Bắc Ninh People’s Committee on Wednesday decided to fine electronic component manufacturer Yestech Vina Co Ltd, based in the Quế Võ Industrial Park, VNĐ200 million for releasing untreated sewage into the park’s rainwater drainage system.

The authorities asked the company to stop the act, in addition to ensuring its treated wastewater met environment requirements within the following two months.

Another electronic component manufacturer in the Quế Võ Industrial Park, Willtech Vina Co Ltd, was also fined VNĐ133 million as its sewage failed to meet environmental criteria. — VNS
