Viet Nam receives third ATR aircraft

HA NOI — The Viet Nam Aircraft Leasing Company (VALC) received its third ATR72-500 plane on Tuesday from the manufacturer Avion de Transport Regional (ATR), which is based out of Toulouse, France.

The aircraft, which is painted with the Vietnam Airlines logo and colour, is scheduled to travel to Ukraine, Russia, China and land at Noi Bai Airport in Ha Noi at 1:40PM on September 19.

VALC General Director Tran Long said that this is the third of five ATR72-500 aeroplanes that have been ordered.

VALC received ATR72-500 aeroplanes in April and June this year, and the fourth aircraft is expected to arrive on October 10 coinciding with the capital's millennial birthday.

Renault debuts first VN showroom

HA NOI — The first showroom displaying Renault cars opened yesterday in Ha Noi.

The Auto Motors Viet Nam, a French company and subsidiary of the Jean Rouye Group, is the sole importer and distributor of Renault cars in the country.

Auto Motors Viet Nam's managing director, Xavier Casin, said the company also planed to open showrooms in HCM City and Da Nang City.

Techmart expo to be held

HA NOI — Techmart Ha Noi 2010 will be held at the Ha Noi International Convention Centre (ICE) from September 23-26.

The exhibition will house 300 stalls including 30-50 foreign ones that will showcase products from the mechanical, information technology and telecommunications, agricultural, forestry and seafood sector.

ABBank profits rise almost 100%

HA NOI — An Binh Bank (ABBank) has posted a pre-tax profit of VND491.4 billion (US$25.2 million), up 99.8 per cent against the same period last year.

The bank's total outstanding loans were worth VND17.2 trillion ($882 million), up 71 per cent, while their total deposits were worth VND21.9 trillion ($1.12 billion), up 77.9 per cent year on year.

The bank plans to raise its charter capital to VND3.83 trillion ($196.41 million) during the next quarter.

Warehouse project breaks ground

BAC NINH — Construction of bonded and non-bonded warehouses will kick off at Viet Nam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) in northern Bac Ninh Province by the end of September.

The project has US$70 million in total investment capital.

The warehouse, which is financed by Singapore Mapletree, covers 55ha and will provide about 280,000sq.m of storage space.

VietNamPlas Fair 2010 to open

HCM CITY — The 10th VietNamPlas Fair 2010 will open at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre from September 22-25.

The fair will attract 225 enterprises from 15 countries and territories and will showcase machinery and equipment that are used to produce plastic, rubber, package and process food.

PVG, CDB sign co-operation deal

HA NOI — The PetroVietnam Financial Company (PVF) and the China Development Bank (CDB) signed an agreement on September 11 to boost their comprehensive and co-operative relations.

Under the agreement, the PVF and CDB will discuss customer and business opportunities and will consider co-sponsoring projects together.

The two groups pledged to provide consultations for each other whenever the companies are working in Viet Nam or China.

CDB will prioritise lending projects introduced by PVF. The two sides will consider co-sponsoring the 1,200 MW Vung Ang 1 thermoelectricity power plant, which is one of the nation's key projects with an estimated cost of US$1.6 billion. — VNS
