to host airlines maintenance centre

HCM CITY — Vietnam
Airlines and the Philippine-headquartered Milcon Gulf Group have signed a
memorandum of understanding to conduct a study on establishing a major
maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Viet Nam.
Under the MoU, Milcon Gulf
Group will partner with Vietnam Airlines to establish a new company to provide
MRO services to Vietnam Arlines and other air carriers worldwide.
Once completed, the
facility will provide a full range of engineering and maintenance services
including aircraft overhaul, repair and components for both Boeing and Airbus
fleets with emphasis on Airbus A320, A321 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
The new company which will
have significant maintenance facilities in Ha Noi, HCM City and Da Nang will
provide maintenance services within Viet Nam, Asia, Middle East and eventually
to Europe and Americas.
Shameem Qurashi, Chairman
of Milcon Gulf Group said his company has a long history in Viet Nam and is
eager to do more with Viet Nam’s young and trainable staff in a country well
positioned to be a key player in the growing worldwide MRO marketplace.
Milcon Gulf Group is a
privately held conglomerate involved in international projects across a variety
of industries and sectors, including aerospace, banking and finance, project
structuring and joint venture development.
Since the early 1980’s
the Milcon Group has developed, financed and delivered several landmark projects
