(12-05-2006)

HCM CITY — An Airbus 320 aircraft of the Royal Brunei Airlines touched down at HCM City yesterday, officially opening the carrier’s Viet Nam service and connecting Brunei and Viet Nam for the first time.

Earlier in the day a ceremony was held in accordance with Muslim religious practices at Brunei International Airport.

"We foresee HCM City as an alternative shopping and sightseeing destination for Bruneians and other Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) passengers," Rozman Junaidi, acting head of RBA’s corporate communications, said.

RBA’s thrice-weekly flights will depart from HCM City at 7am on Tuesday and at 4.35pm on Thursday and Sunday and the return flights will depart from Brunei at 8.10pm on Monday and 2.40pm on Thursday and Sunday.

To mark the inauguration, RBA offers special fares of US$158 for a round trip from HCM City to Bandar Seri Begawan. — VNS
