Update: August, 30/2014 - 08:04
HCM CITY (VNS)— The People's Committee here is seeking National Government approval of its plan to construct Viet Nam's largest central square in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.

Defrain Souquet Deso Associates, the French consulting company, is proposing a total investment of VND1.97 trillion (US$93.8 million) for the plan, which will be carried out under a build-transfer (BT) scheme.

The proposed project will cover a land area of nearly 30 ha, of which 20 ha will be for the central square and 10 ha, for a riverside park.

It is envisioned to be a center for holding exchanges, cultural and political events, as well as a public space for the daily activities of residents and visitors. It is also envisioned to be a model home for urban workers and professionals. — VNS
