HA NOI (VNS) — Movitel mobile network received the Mobile Innovations Awards for its best use of mobiles within a customer relationship management (CRM) strategy on Tuesday in London.
Movitel has become the first and only African telecommunications company to win awards given by prestigious international organisations for three consecutive years. Earlier, it won the 2013 Mozambican Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership and Rural Telecom Award at the 2012 AfricaCom Awards.
Movitel, the joint venture collaboration (JVC) between Vietnamese company Viettel and Mozambique's SPI company, launched operations on May 15, 2012. Since then, it has gained five million subscribers, accounting for 32 per cent of share of the telecommunications market. Its revenue reached US$154.5 million, with a profit of $8.8 million in 2013. — VNS
