TRA VINH (VNS)— Viet Nam Electricity began construction on a seaport for the Duyen Hai Electricity Centre in the southern province of Tra Vinh yesterday.
The port is part of the planned power complex in Dan Thanh commune, Duyen Hai District. It aims to load 12 million tonnes of coal and 100,000 tonnes of oil per year to the centre's three thermal power plants.
The port will cover more than 427 hectares of water and include two coal terminals, one oil terminal, a 3.9km bulkhead and a system for loading and unloading coal as well as electricity, water and communication facilities.
The port is being built by China Communications Construction Company Ltd. with a total investment of over VND5.8 trillion (about US$280 million) and is scheduled to be completed in 32 months. — VNS
