BAC GIANG – Viet Nam's leading coffee producer, Trung Nguyen Group today inaugurates a coffee production plant in the northern province of Bac Giang. The daily output of the first production phase is expected to be 100 tonnes.
The US$30 million factory is based in the Viet Yen District's Quang Chau industrial zone.
Trung Nguyen said the first phase of new plant will produce its instant G7 variety to meet northern Viet Nam's growing demand. It has already gained 75 per cent of the market share for instant coffee here.
The second phase of production will focus on exports, mainly to China, Korea, Japan and Chinese Taiwan.
The project, a part of Trung Nguyen's master plan to develop Viet Nam's coffee industry, aims to earn $20 billion and create 5-6 million jobs during the next 15 years.
Established in 1996 in the central province of Dak Lak, the first Trung Nguyen coffee shop opened in HCM City in 1998 and by 2011 there were more than 1,000 across Viet Nam.
Trung Nguyen, which exports its coffee to more than 40 countries including the US and UK, has also diversified to decaffeinated and instant coffee production. – VNS
