DONG NAI — Thai company SCG Cement began production on Thursday at the cement factory it recently acquired and upgraded in southern Dong Nai Province.
This factory has an annual capacity of 120,000 tonnes of cement and 80,000 tonnes of white cement.
SCG Cement spent US$5.5 million for buying a 99 per cent stake in the plant from the Buu Long Industry&Investment Joint Stock Company and upgrading it in line with its environment – friendly policy, according to Pramote Techasupatkul, its president.
SCG Cement also has three plants in Viet Nam making ready-mixed concrete, one in Long An Province and the two others in HCM City.
SCG, which owns SCG Cement, has 15 businesses in Viet Nam with more than $300 million in assets.-VNS
