HA NOI — Ca Mau Fertiliser Factory, the largest of those invested by PetroVietnam Group (PVN), will officially open by the end of this month, a source from PVN released.
The factory has a designed capacity of 800,000 tonnes of urea per year and will make a considerable contribution to fertiliser supply for agricultural production in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta region.
The US$900 million invested urea fertiliser factory is part of the Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertiliser project, which aims to meet the urea demand set out in the plan for national construction by 2025.
Ca Mau Fertiliser Factory covers an area of 62 ha about 11 km from the centre of Ca Mau City. The factory lies close to Viet Nam's largest granary within the Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertiliser Industrial Group, a key industrial zone with easy access to the PM3 – Ca Mau Gas Pipeline.
The factory's first commercial production was commissioned late last month. Ca Mau Fertiliser Factory is said to be built in line with the national strategy of developing the oil and gas industry by 2015. — VNS
