HAI PHONG — The People's Committee of the northern city of Hai Phong yesterday granted an investment certificate to Japan's Kyocera Mita Vietnam Technology Co to build a plant producing printers and photocopiers in the city.
With a cost of over US$200 million, construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in October of this year on a 20ha site in the 1,600ha Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone.
Once operational in October 2012, the factory will have an annual capacity of 150,000 units, to increase to 450,000 in 2016, and will generate jobs for 5,000 local workers.
This month, the group will set up the Kyocera Mita Viet Nam Technology Group with capital of $55 million to operate the new facility.
Hai Phong has attracted 11 new foreign-invested projects in the past six months, worth a combined $39.6 million. — VNS
