HCM City to host architecture fair

HCM CITY — The first international architecture exhibition to be held in Viet Nam will open at the Sai Gon Exhibition&Convention Centre in District 7 on January 4, 2009.

The Viet Nam Architecture Exhibition 2009, organised by HCM City Architects’ Association in co-ordination with Gia Phuc Media Co, aims to create an annual professional forum for architects in Viet Nam to promote the profession.

Hai Phong welcomes nearly 4m visitors

HAI PHONG — The northern port city of Hai Phong has welcomed more than 3.9 million visitors so far this year, including about 670,000 foreign tourists, reaching a total tourism revenue of VND1.2 trillion (US$72.7 million).

However, the city has not yet reached it target of attracting 4.29 million travellers throughout the year. The city will fall short of the target due to a shortage of attractive tourism products and delayed tourism projects, according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.

Domesco builds drugs factory in Dong Thap

DONG THAP — The Dong Thap Medical Export-Import Joint stock Co (Domesco) is building a factory to manufacture drugs with a total investment capital of VND72.1 billion ($4.4 million).

Located in Con Bo industrial complex in the southern province of Dong Thap, the plant has a capacity of 120 tonnes of medicine per annum and is scheduled to be finished in 10 months.

The plant is one of the 15 projects on building medical manufacturing factories.

VinaGame works with VIB on e-payment

HA NOI — The Viet Nam International Bank (VIB) is working with VinaGame to develop an online payment service called Softpin Online.

The new payment method will gradually replace cash payment and be applied at VinaGame’s agents via the point of sale (POS) system.

Online payment will require agents to open non-term saving accounts and ‘value’ cards from VIB to carry out payment transactions through POS machines.

Beverage enterprises launch product lines

HA NOI — Beverage enterprises have began launching a raft of new products for the domestic market ahead of the Tet (lunar New Year) festival.

Coca Cola and Minute Maid introduced Minute Maid Slash orange juice.

The deputy general director of Tribeco, Nguyen Tri Bong, said that prices of beverages during the Tet festival would increase by 10 to 15 per cent against the previous year due to changes in the foreign currency exchange rate.

HCM City bourse greets 91st member

HCM CITY — The HCM City Stock Exchange yesterday accepted the Bao Minh Securities Joint-Stock Company as its 91st trading member.

The Ha Noi-based BMSC has a charter capital of VND300 billion (US$12 million) and offers services including brokerage, underwriting and investment and corporate consultancy.

It also offers online services that enable customers to open trading accounts and checking accounts.

ACB to list 170m additional shares

HA NOI — The Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre (HaSTC) has allowed the Asia Joint Stock Commercial Bank (ACB) to list an additional 170 million shares worth about VND1.7 billion (US$100,900) on December 30.

This will give the ACB a total of about 632 million shares, the most of any listed company on either the HaSTC or HCM City Stock Exchange.

The bank made more than VND8 trillion in revenue and VND1.2 trillion ($71.4 million) in post-tax profit in the first nine months of the year.

PVE to increase charter capital

HA NOI – PetroVietnam Investment Consultancy and Engineering Joint-stock Co (PVE) plans to issue 4.5 million shares worth VND45 billion ($2.7 million) to increase its charter capital from VND35 billion to VND80 billion.

Of the increased amount, the company would offer more than 4.3 million shares to existing shareholders and more than 151,000 shares to staff. — VNS
