EVN to organise international electronics exhibition in Ha Noi

HA NOI — The Viet Nam International Electrical Technology and Equipment Exhibition 2008 will be organised between December 11 and 13 of this year in Ha Noi with the participation of hundreds of enterprises from countries and territories including China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Russia and America.

Covering an area of more than 8,000 sq.m at Giang Vo Exhibition and Fair Centre, the exhibition will provide a setting for local and foreign electrical enterprises to meet, transfer technology, cooperate and promote trade.

The three-day exhibition plans to lure about 300 stalls displaying electrical equipment as well as the achievements of the local electrical industry.

HA NOI — Ford Viet Nam on Monday launched the all-new Ford Mondeo, the company’s flagship mid-sized sedan, in a bid to compete in the emerging local premium-auto market.

The car, built under the "Kinetic design" language and imported to Viet Nam in complete built unit (CBU) form, equipped with a 2.3 litter Duratec engine which produces 161hp (horse power) at an engine speed of 6500rpm (revolutions per minute).

Ford Viet Nam said it would consider assembling the new Mondeo in Viet Nam if the demand is high.

VietUnion make deal with US’s VeriSign on ID protection

HCM CITY — VeriSign Inc., a provider of Internet infrastructure services headquartered in the US, announced a partnership with VietUnion to deliver a range of advanced identity protection services in Viet Nam.

VietUnion Online Service Corporation is a member of Saigon Invest Group, which specialises in industrial park development, finance – banking, information technology and energy.

As part of the deal, VietUnion will offer the VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) Authentication Service to government departments, financial services and e-commerce.

Haxaco makes $16.22m in first half of year

HA NOI — Hang Xanh Auto Service JSC (Haxaco) brought in a revenue of VND267.55 billion (US$16.22 million) in the first half of the year, an increase of VND57.81 billion over the same period last year.

The company reported a post-tax profit of VND9.5 billion, 66.85 per cent higher than the same period last year.

This year, the company expects to earn VND593.16 billion in revenue and VND13.38 billion in post-tax profit.

PNJ releases 30 million shares in first offer

HA NOI — Phu Nhuan Gold, Silver and Gemstone JSC (PNJ) has applied to the HCM City Stock Exchange for an initial public offering (IPO) of 30 million shares.

The company has a charter capital of VND300 billion (US$18.18 million), offering appraisals on diamonds and gemstone, production and trading of gold pieces and gold, silver and gemstone jewellery, and owns some rental property.

GMC pays 6 per cent dividend starting Oct 1

HA NOI — Sai Gon Garment Manufacturing and Trading JSC (GMC) will pay a dividend of 6 per cent for the first period of 2008 in cash starting October 1.

GMC has a charter capital of VND46.7 billion (US$2.83 million). The company produces, trades and exports garment products and provides services in investment, finance and enterprise management.

DDM releases first half business results

HA NOI — Dong Do Marine JSC (DDM) gained VND131 billion (US$7.94 million) in revenue in the first half of the year, 41 per cent higher than the same period last year.

The company reported that it earned VND49.97 billion in post-tax profit, an increase of 238.52 per cent.

This year, the company expects a total revenue of VND298 billion and a profit of VND46.37 billion.

Nha Rong Insurance issues shares to boost capital

HA NOI — Nha Rong Insurance JSC will publicly offer 34.72 million shares with a total value of VND347.2 billion (US$21.04 million) and a face value of VND10,000 per share.

The company is issuing the shares to help increase its charter capital and financial ability in the insurance business.

Last year, the company gained a pre-tax profit of VND24.26 billion, 68 per cent higher than the previous year and a post-tax profit of VND18.32 billion, an increase of 71 per cent. — VNS
