Foreign firms see higher revenues in Hai Phong zones

HAI PHONG — The foreign-invested enterprises in Hai Phong Port City have generated total revenue of US$241 million in the first 10 months, an increase of 36 per cent over the same period of last year, said the managing board of Hai Phong Industrial and Export Processing Zones.

The enterprises have exported $163 million, a year-on-year increase of 46 per cent.

These enterprises have also contributed $7.2 million to the State budget, 23 per cent more than in the same period of 2005.

Cat Loi to list shares on HCM City bourse

HCM CITY — Cat Loi Joint Stock Co (coded CLC) will list 8.4 million shares, worth VND84 billion (US$5.3 million), on the HCM City stock exchange beginning November 16.

The company earned roughly VND491 billion ($30.6 million) in revenues in the past nine months of this year, $1.6 million from export turnover, and currently has a chartered capital of VND84 billion ($5.3 million).

Ha Tay attracts 69 foreign-invested projects

HA TAY — The northern province of Ha Tay has granted licenses to 11 new foreign-invested projects so far this year, with a total capital of over US$41 million.

Among the projects were a 22-million-dollar golf course development in Chuong My District and an eight-million-dollar vocational centre in Thach That District.

The province has a total of 69 foreign-invested projects overall, worth a combined total of $666.9 million.

Tra Vinh Province OKs third industrial zone

TRA VINH — The Tra Vinh People’s Committee has approved the establishment of the VND30 billion (US$1.9 million) Co Chien Industrial Zone in Cang Long District, making it the third industrial zone in the province.

The 50ha zone would aim to serve small- and medium-sized enterprises involved in such sectors as shipbuilding, agricultural processing, seafood and manufacturing.

Work on the zone was expected to begin early next year.

Quang Ngai provides free bus service to airport

QUANG NGAI — The Provincial Department of Transport, in conjuntion with Viet Nam Aviation Service Company, will be providing a free bus service from the province to Chu Lai Airport from this Thursday.

The Provincial Transport Department will be responsible for providing the service, which is scheduled to run until the end of next year, said deputy chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Hoang Son.

Bach Dang Ship Building Company launches ship

HAI PHONG — The Bach Dang Ship Building Company successfully launched its 22,500-tonne ship the Golden Falcon last Saturday.

Golden Falcon, the largest ship ever built by the company, is the first of eight 22,500-tonne ships ordered by Viet Nam National Shipping Lines.

Forty tourism booths opened in Ha Noi

HA NOI – The Tourism Department of Ha Noi, in conjunction with Dat Viet Advertising Company, has opened 40 tourism information kiosks in the city centre.

Visitors to the capital will be able to get information about, among other things, galleries, hotels and historical sites in and around the city.

Vietcombank Securities Co increases chartered capital

HA NOI – Vietcombank Securities Co Ltd, part of the Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam, has increased its chartered capital from VND60 billion (US$3.57 million) to VND200 billion ($12.5 million), said company director Nguyen Thi Bich Lien.

The company posted a profit of VND50 billion ($3.13 million) for the first 10 months of the year, and expects to earn a further VND10 billion ($630,000) by the end of the year, Lien said. — VNS
