Quảng Ninh aims to reduce poverty

The northern province of Quảng Ninh has set a target by 2020 to reduce poverty in all 22 communes and 11 hamlets that are extremely poor, according to the Ethnic Group Department under the provincial people’s committee.

The province will mobilise all resources with total investment of VNĐ1.653 trillion ($74.1 million) to financially support those communes and hamlets in the 2016-20 period under Programme 135, which develops the agricultural infrastructure area.

In the coming years, the province will provide VNĐ6 billion ($268,980), which is four times higher than now, to each extremely poor commune to complete works under Programme 135.
