More than 1,300 new enterprises registered for operation in the northern province of Quang Ninh this year with a total investment of nearly VND10 trillion (US$443.8 million). Dong Thap sends 580 guest workers abroad
The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Dong Thap sent 580 guest workers abroad this year, the highest number in the Mekong Delta, four times higher than last year. Of this figure, more than 50 per cent of the guest workers were sent to Japan, according to Bui Thanh Nhon, director of the provincial Department of Social, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The province has spent VND800 million ($35,504) for training and health check-ups, and has provided loans totalling VND20 billion ($887,600) for the guest workers, according to Nhon.

Dong Nai achieves trade surplus of $1.5b
The southern province of Dong Nai is expected to achieve a trade surplus of more than $1.5 billion this year. The province's exports are expected to reach more than $14 billion this year, according to the province's Department of Industry and Trade.
Major products that have high trade surplus include footwear, wooden furniture, garment, electronics and electronic spare parts, according to the department.

Ha Noi creates food safety inspection teams
The Ha Noi People's Committee has set up six inspection teams for food hygiene and safety from December 20 to March 25, 2016 to ensure food hygiene and safety during the New Year and Lunar New Year 2016.
The teams will inspect food production and processing facilities, eateries and restaurants.

1,200 people join fire drill in Binh Duong
More than 1,200 people from the fire departments of the southern provinces of Binh Duong and Dong Nai, and HCM City as well as government agencies on Tuesday took part in a large fire drill at Aeon Mall in Binh Duong Province's Thuan An Town.
The second floor of Aeon Mall was used as a trial run for a fire covering the entire mall, with hundreds of customers stranded inside the building. The firefighting force approached the building with ladder vehicles and rescued the ‘victims'.
