A waste treatment plant opened on Thursday in Dan Phuong District's Phuong Dinh Commune in Ha Noi.
The plant, which uses Martin technology from Germany, combusts waste to produce power. It has a total investment of VND270 billion (US$12.2 million) and a processing capacity of 300 tonnes of waste per day.
The plant is expected to meet demand for waste treatment in Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc and Quoc Oai districts and in industrial parks and craft villages.

Number of tourists to city on the rise
HCM City welcomed 334,353 tourists in August, an increase of 8 per cent over the same period last year. The number of foreign tourists to the city reached 2.83 million in the first eight months of the year, a rise of 8 per cent year-on-year, according to Thai Van Re, director of the city's Department of Planning and Investment.
The city has earned VND60.7 trillion ($2.7 billion) from tourism since the beginning of the year, an increase of 4 per cent over the same period last year.

More flights for National Day holiday
The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, will add 95 flights or nearly 7,800 seats on seven domestic routes departing from Ha Noi and HCM City during the National Day (Sept 2) holiday. The additional flights, from August 29 to September 3, will depart from Ha Noi to Quang Binh, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, and from HCM City to Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc. These routes are expected to see high demand during the holiday.

Central city to support fishermen
The People's Committee of the central coastal city of Da Nang on Thursday approved a plan to provide VND3.2 billion (US$145,400) for local fishermen to build ships.
To date, 24 large capacity vessels have been built with more than VND17 billion ($772,700), Da Nang's Department Agriculture and Rural Development has reported.
