HCM City hosts seminar on treating anemia
A seminar on the latest advances in treatment of anaemia due to chronic kidney disease was held recently in HCM City by the HCM City Nephrology Association in co-operation with Hoffmann – La Roche.
Doctors pointed out the importance of anaemia management in the early stages of chronic kidney disease and diabetic nephropathy and said anemia should be treated early in such patients.
According to the Ministry of Health, diabetic nephropathy accounts for 20-40 per cent of patients with diabetes and is the leading cause of end-stage chronic kidney disease.
Anaemia caused by chronic kidney disease increases the likelihood of cardiovascular disease and stroke and the risk of progression to the end stage of chronic kidney disease.
