The People's Committee of the central province of Quang Tri and World Vision International in Viet Nam on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding to implement the project "Developing initiatives for environmental protection in Trieu Phong District" from 2015-17.
The Korean International Cooperation Agency and the Korea Exchange Bank provided US$400,000 for project implementation.
The project aims to help residents of eight communes in Trieu Phong District benefit from environmentally friendly, sustainable development models.

Chartered planes to fly from Thailand to Da Nang
Travel companies will team up with Vietnam Airlines to offer chartered flights to carry tourists from Thailand to the central city of Da Nang soon.
Tran Chi Cuong, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said flights linking Thailand and Da Nang will resume later this month after many years of interruption.
The route holds growth potential as there are an increasing number of tourists from Thailand to Da Nang and other destinations in the central region, he said.

Traffic accidents drop nationwide
According to the National Committee for Traffic Safety, 1,734 road accidents occurred nationwide last month, killing 708 people and injuring 1,484.
As of May 15, a total of 9,318 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, leaving 3,735 people dead and 8,554 others injured.
The figures declined by 13.5 per cent, 4.91 per cent and 18.97 per cent, respectively, over the corresponding periods last year, according to the committee.

Plan to upgrade Noi Bai-Bac Ninh road
The Thang Long Project Management Board has submitted a plan to upgrade the Noi Bai-Bac Ninh Road to the Transport Ministry.
The project proposes a total investment of VND2.26 trillion (US$107.5 million) for a BOT (build-operate-transfer) model.
The road, with a length of 33.4 kilometres, would begin in Thanh Xuan Commune in Ha Noi's Soc Son District and end in Vo Cuong Ward in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
