The number of new enterprises registered was 13,766 in the first two months of this year, an increase of 25 per cent compared with the same period last year, reported the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam. The number of new real estate enterprises increased by 89 per cent over the last period.

Youth Union supports young labourers
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has spent more than VND69 billion (US3.2 million) from its fund to help nearly 3,000 young labourers, most of them farmers living in remote areas, develop their business this year. The union plans to offer loans worth VND3 billion ($145,000) this year.
The fund provides young labourers with preferential loans for five years to develop their business.

Quang Binh begins construction of village
The Communist Youth Union, in co-operation with Quang Binh Youth Union, began construction of a youth village this week in Quang Binh Province's Quang Trach District. The village is located on 1,206 hectares of land and will attract a hundred of families live and work. Additionally, local roads, power lines, water supply facilities, a cultural centre, a school and a clinic will also be built. The construction will be completed 2020.

Authorities told to control animal diseases
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has called on local authorities to control animal disease outbreaks after a foot-and mouth case was detected recently in northern provinces of Bac Kan and Lao Cai. The ministry also asked local agencies to vaccinate at least 80 per cent of the cattle and monitor cattle transportation, particularly via border gates.
The country has now more than 5.2 million cattle.
