City checks paper-making facilities

The HCM City People's Committee has told the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to work with other agencies to evaluate paper manufacturing facilities in the city.

The Department of Industry and Trade will be tasked working with agencies to check paper manufacturing facilities. If any facility causes pollution, it will be fined and forced to update technologies and expand capacity to at least 50,000 tonnes per year. If not, the facility will be moved.

The Department of Science and Technology has been asked to compile a list of technologies that cannot be used, and those that should be used, by paper manufacturers. The city's Industrial Park and Export Processing Zone Authority (HEPZA) will also check the land funds at IPs and EPZs to see if paper manufacturing facilities could be moved to these areas.
