Construction on Viet Nam's first airport built under the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) mode will begin this month in Binh Thuan Province's Phan Thiet city.
According to Binh Thuan Province's People's Committee, the Phan Thiet Airport will be built on 543ha in the city's Thien Nghiep Commune, and will be used for military and civilian purposes. The project's total investment is VND5.6 trillion (US$260 million).

FDI firms give out 13th month bonus
Most foreign direct-investment enterprises in Binh Duong Province will offer bonuses equal to a 13th month of salary for their employees, according to a recent survey conducted by the provincial Labour Federation.
Bui Thanh Nhan, deputy chairman of the labour federation, said despite the economic downturn, the enterprises would increase bonuses this year by 10 to 15 per cent over the minimum monthly salary set by the government (which took effect this month).
The province has 800,000 workers with 15,000 enterprises. At least 2,300 of them are foreign directly invested. Most enterprises with 5,000 to 10,000 workers have announced their year-end bonus policy.

Residents pledge to block road-construction
Residents in Thanh Luong Commune in Binh Phuoc Province's Binh Long District said they would block construction of National Road No 13 because of the high level of dust in the area caused by the highway project. They have also erected signs near the road that complain about the slow progress of the project.
Local residents said that road construction had been going on for four years, and that they must always keep their doors closed.
Ho Van Huu, director of Binh Phuoc Province's Department of Transport, said the investor is An Loc – Hoa Lu Company under the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) mode. The project, which broke ground in 2010, was scheduled to be completed in 2013.
